On a cold and frosty morning

After a ridiculously warm end to last year, I was beginning to wonder whether we’d see a proper winter this season. But then it suddenly got cold, and the last couple of mornings we’ve woken up to the most breathtaking frosts. I love frost almost as much as snow, if not more; it is, after all, somewhat less disruptive than snow usually is. Everywhere was looking so beautiful this morning that I couldn’t resist having a little wander around the airfield to take some photos before cracking on with some work next to the fire. There were some seriously impressive ice crystals clinging to all the vegetation in the hedgerow, turning everywhere into a winter wonderland. I don’t think these photos really need any commentary; the beauty of the English countryside on a crisp winter’s day speaks for itself.
